Rebuilding Standard Pneumatic Co. Air Motor
By Sam Harris
Julian, Every Standard and Autopiano wind motor I have ever rebuilt
had no gaskets between the pneumatics. I would think it would be a
good idea to put a thin paper or cheesecloth gasket between, just in
case you have to remove the pneumatics for some reason.
I had the misfortune of being stupid enough to glue the pneumatics
on in the wrong order. The fingers did not line up as they should.
A quick fix would have been to reposition the fingers, but I wanted the
pneumatics on in the right order. In short, I destroyed the surface
the pneumatics were glued to. Had to recover all the pneumatics and
make a new mating surface.
If I had used some type of gasket I would not have had so much damage.
If I was really smart I would have repositioned the fingers. Oh, the
joys of being ME!
