Hammers for Upright Steinway Duo-Art
By Spencer Chase

After rebuilding the expression box on my 1916 upright Steinway
Duo-Art, the sound is wonderful and I feel compelled to finish the job
right. I have been wanting to replace the hammers but am afraid of
having something I don't like when I am done. I would like to retain
the wonderful old style of tone without having to have major voicing
done each time the piano is tuned which is not as often as I would like
due to my remote location.

Does anyone have experience with a particular set of hammers that they
can recommend? I don't want the piano to sound like a modern Japanese
piano.
