Hammers for Weber Duo-Art
By Mike Knudsen

This past Wednesday the piano technician reinstalled my Weber Duo-Art
grand action with the new Renner Blue hammers on Tokiwa shanks. He had
to "hang" the hammers on the shanks himself, using his jig which he
hadn't used for a few years due to normally letting the hammer supplier
hang the heads. He got them just right.

The tone is excellent, just what I wanted: solid and clear but not too
bright. Only a handful of notes will need voicing touch-up, and even
those are noticed only when listening carefully. I could use more
power in the treble but that may just be the way the Weber is scaled
(it was really weak on the old, worn-out hammers), or maybe I need new
treble strings?

Anyway, I'd like to thank all the MMD members for their public and
private replies to my call for advice on new hammers. Most of the
advice ran towards Renner Blues, and you guys were right!

Thanks again, Mike Knudsen
