Band Organ Rally in Ocean Shores, Washington
By Norm Gibson
Hi, this is Norman Gibson, organ builder, who has just retired and
moved to Ocean Shores in Washington. I just signed a contract with the
Ocean Shores city and Convention Center for a Band Organ Rally in 2001
on Labor Day Weekend, August 31, September 1-2, 2001.
The Rally will be presented by the Pacific Can-Am Chapter of AMICA
International. We will also be inviting the Northwest Chapter of MBSI
to be part of this rally. The Ocean Shores city will be putting
together a web page in the near future.
This is the first organ rally our AMICA Chapter is hosting. A committee
has been established and I was appointed to oversee the whole affair.
Have a lot to learn. Any tips or suggestions would be welcome. We are
just getting the process rolling but so far the City is enthusiastic
about this event. They want to see it go on every year. Let's see how
this first year works out.
Love to hear from anyone who would like to make the trip to Ocean
Shores. The city is a resort and has events almost every weekend.
They have an annual draw of about 3.5 million tourists each year during
the summer months. We have the grounds around the Convention Center,
as well as the three big halls of the Center itself. A number of the
businesses are also hoping that an organ will come by and play outside
their door.
More information as it gets put together.
