Yes, Dow Corning is available here in the UK, at least I think it's
the same product: silicon sealer. It comes in a selection of shades,
of which white and clear are the most popular. It sets or dries on
contact with air moister and is most commonly used by the building
trade for waterproofing bathroom suites.
I have found an application for this product in organ building where
I believe its quick and easy application is a lot less fuss than
reaching for the glue pot. Wood-to-wood parts screwed and glued
together in this way are less troublesome to split apart than if
they were hot glued.
I have also found that badly formed pipe feet enjoy a better surface
fit to their upperboards if bedded on a small ring of this substance.
I have even used closed cell Neoprene sponge! Oops! Have I opened up
another can of worms?
But whatever the application, it should be applied in a discrete and
tidy way.
