In MMD 000725 Bjorn Isebaert asked about the location of the
ex-Turner's Musical Merry-Go-Round Hooghuys.
I believe that this organ is now located in the Auto-Technik Museum
in Sinsheim, Germany. This museum mainly consists of a very large
collection of cars and military vehicles.
The Hooghuys is (or at least last summer, was) located in the main
foyer of the museum, where it can be found hanging on the wall above
a food counter. The organ was forwardly inclined at quite an alarming
angle so as to give a good view from the floor. Quite what effect this
has on the mechanism, I would not like to hazard a guess.
In addition to the Hooghuys, the museum houses three Decap dance
organs. One of these, hanging from the ceiling, is mainly electronic,
but it is not one of the more common 105-key instruments. Additionally
there is a 121-key Mortier, two Popper orchestrions (one of which is
a 'Happy Jazz Band') and a disk musical box. All instruments can be
operated by visitors by means of coin slot mechanisms.
The museum is easy to reach by visitors as it has its own railway
station, conveniently called 'Sinsheim Museum'. It is well served
by trains during museum opening hours.
Incidentally, German train timetables are available on the web at
http://bahn.hafas.de/ . There is a link to an English language version
of the site.
I hope that the above information is useful.
