Dear Jody, Recently a gentleman asked if anyone had a record titled
"Afternoon in Amsterdam". Someone did and offered to send him a tape
of the record. I too have that record and have enjoyed it immensely
over the years.
I also have a 12" LP titled 'John Tagger Collection', apparently made
circa 1974. The first half of one side has recordings of a Polyphon
while the second half of that side is a recording of a 'Stella' Music
box. The reverse side is a recording of a Limonaire barrel organ.
From a Dutch friend I have copied 30 minutes of a tape of an organ and
the title is 'Draaiorgel', source and instrument unknown. I am
prepared to copy and send to anyone tapes of these if they would like
to send a tape over to me.
Now the problem. I do not want to run afoul of any copyright laws so
if my offer is illegal perhaps you could throw this figuratively in the
trash can.
A while ago I saw a homemade pipe organ in Tasmania made by an elderly
retired farmer and asked in MMD if anyone had plans of a similar
machine. Apparently it was a self-devised instrument. While looking
at the photo of the organ I realised to my horror that it would be too
big for my home so after making 11 pipes I gave up that idea real
quick.
As an alternative I sent away for and received plans of John Smith's
busker organ. Although I would like to have built something more
ambitious I must cut my cloth, etc., and am well on the way to making
my first organ. Perhaps someone might see me busking during the next
America's Cup defence.
