Patrick Boeckstijns' article in MMD 000629, about the video broadcast
of "Selbst spielt das Klavier" on the European ARTE channel, reminds
me to tell all European MMD subscribers that there will be another
interesting evening on ARTE Wednesday next week, 5 July 2000.  The
evenings topic is the American composer George Antheil and his music.

Starting 21:45 CEST will be the biography "Bad Boy of Music --
Die George Antheil Story", followed at 22:45 by "George Antheil:
'Ballet mecanique'", which is a 27-minute recording of the performance
in the Cologne Philharmony from May 14th of last year.

As I had the chance to attend this performance, I can tell you that
the two (baby) pianolas from Juergen Hocker outrivaled completely the
six human pianists on six grand pianos!

It was a great event.  Do not miss the broadcast!
