Fellow MMD'ers: I've been begun collecting MIDI piano files on the
web. I'm just starting my search and have not dug deeply, but in
response to recent questions about MIDI piano music sites I thought
I'd throw in my two cents. Here are a few recommendations:
Ragtime and Stride:
Warren Trachtman's recent posting about the on-line data base sounds
great [000612 MMD]. Until it's up to speed there's Sue Keller's
Ragtime Press homepage which now carries the huge MIDI file catalog
that once graced the Ragtimer's Home Page: http://rtpress.com/
While there are many interesting MIDI ragtime & stride sites, one
of the best is the late John Roache's site:
http://members.aol.com/ragtimers/20-40.html
In addition, master piano roll arranger John Farrell has discovered
MIDI. Check out his work at
http://homepages.tesco.net/~stridepiano/midifiles.htm.
For general MIDI piano music sites try the following lists:
The Piano Tuners Guild MIDI page http://www.ptg.org/
Also for Ragtime and popular music:
http://www.geocities.com/BourbonStreet/2422/
Some of the music on these sites is simply wonderful. Others, quite
frankly, stink. The fun (for me) of searching on the net is finding
a gem or a surprise, like 16 year old Martin Spitznagel's ragtime page.
I hope to post my own MIDI files one of these days. (Hopefully they
won't stink.)
Happy hunting.
