I finally saw the decal my friend wanted. It is not as bad as I
thought. It says "Fotoplayer" (with quotation marks) in Old English
type, or at least that is what it looked like to me. It is an American
Photo Player Company piano. I gave him the decal names from John
Tuttle's web site.
Is there a "kit" for ink jet printers that makes good quality transfers,
that would work on pianos? The ink would have to be something that
would not run when you spray finish over it. Either that or a foil
backed paper that you could put in a solution to dissolve the foil that
didn't have ink covering it (sort of like how I think they do printed
circuit boards.) If there isn't such a thing I think there would be a
market among restorers for it.
