First yesterday's inquiry from Brian Chesters [000606 MMD], and now
Kevin's. I've owned a Diana organette with 22 zinc discs for a few
years. It's a fun little machine to play.
Probably because it was intended for kids, its musical repertoire tends
toward light and bouncy tunes, although not children's songs per se.
My disks are mostly fascinating Hungarian, Polish, Czech, German, and
French songs and dances that I'd never find anywhere else in America.
One French polka is a great imitation of a steam locomotive, but
there's also the Polish national anthem on the serious side. It's
amazing how much can be done with only 14 notes..
Brian Chesters was looking for disks, and Kevin might be happy with
photocopies. I guess I could just lay the (projectionless!) discs on
my flatbed scanner and make printouts. I _might_ be willing to sell
some of the discs that I don't like as much.
