Roll Transcriber at AMICA Sacramento Convention
By Spencer Chase

I will be giving a demonstration of my scanning system at the
Sacramento AMICA convention. I will also be demonstrating a logging
system for recording piano vacuum levels while performing. The data
obtained from this recording is being used in the development of
emulation software for the reproducing piano codes. I hope to be
playing these emulation on the Yamaha Disklavier Pro that will be
there.

I will be able to scan and process a number of rolls while at the
convention, both during the demonstration and in the hotel room later.
I would encourage Duo-Art collectors to bring their rare rolls for
scanning. This is the chance to hear those rare rolls that are too
fragile to risk to a player piano or to let out of your sight for
scanning. I can process other formats such as 88 note, Recordo and
Ampico but only for recutting as I do not have software to emulate the
performances.

I will have my CDs of Duo-Art music for the PowerRoll and for MIDI
players available for sale at a discount during the convention.
Included will be the new emulations for direct playing on MIDI pianos
and sound modules. I will be able to demonstrate these files on a
sound card that is installed in my scanner as well as on the Yamaha.

I hope to see you all there, with your tough questions at the technical
session, and with your rare Duo-Art rolls for scanning. Contact me in
advance if you have any questions.
