Hello all. I have hung on to my spare player actions for years, and
often I come across a piano that I can install them. I also am happy
to say that I had the complete player action for a friend's Marshall &
Wendell, and it will soon play again.
Using the power of the Internet, I think we can undo much of the damage
that has been done by ignorant tuners over the years. In someone's
shop, or back room, there is a player action that will fit something!
If the rebuilders worldwide can see what is available at one place,
there is a very good chance that a spare player action and piano can
be reunited.
I have created a database that you can list your spare actions for
free. Simply go to the site, fill out the form, and that is it. Over
time, it is my hope that it will become a great resource for rebuilders
everywhere.
If the device is mechanical, and will play a piano, it meets the
criteria of the database. This includes the pneumatic stacks as well
as the newer electronic versions. If this database is a success, I will
later add a section for empty player pianos, listing the maker and the
scale count. If we can match these devices with the piano, many will
play again.
I am going to add a search engine at the site, to help match up what
you are looking for the search engine will search by action type and
scale count. For example:
Maker: Baldwin
Type: 88-Note
Valves: Single
Tiers: 3
Scale Count: 25, 30, 33
Condition: Original
Pump Available?: Yes
Levers And Linkage?: No
Location: Sikeston, Missouri

Player actions are useless without a piano. Please take the time to
list your spare player actions -- someone will be very glad you did.
As with anything like this, the successes of it depends upon people
willing to take the time to list their spare player devices. List as
many as you wish at
http://www.freeyellow.com/members8/playerstacks
If the form doesn't work (it should), then e-mail me and I will have
your listing on the server within 72 hours. All it will cost you is
a little time.
Cheers
Andy Taylor
