Aeolian Rolls With Angelus Designation
By Ed Sprankle
Paul Murphy inquired about 65-note Angelus rolls. You can play these
on a 65-note tracker bar but you have to do a little 'conversion' work.
These rolls played from bottom to the top of the spool box. To
convert, unroll the roll to the end. Reverse the paper so the old
bottom edge faces out. Rewind the roll on either a standard 65-note
spool or an 88-note spool -- your choice.
If you don't understand this admittedly confusing explanation, let
the perforations be your guide as to the correct bass and treble
arrangement. The original roll paper will conform to the new set up
with the roll wound up tightly and rubber banded.
There may be someone out there who will respond who _can_ play these
Angelus rolls as they are before conversion. If the music is not to
your liking you might want to wait for a couple of weeks for a reply
from an Angelus owner!
