QRS Artists Pete Wendling & Walter Redding
By Bob Billings

In the 4/25/00 MMD Stephen Kent Goodman asked whether Walter Redding was
a real person, or whether the name was a pseudonym for Pete Wendling.

J. Lawrence Cook told us that Walter Redding was a name originally used
by Wendling for pieces he didn't want his name on. After 1925, when
Wendling left QRS, the Redding name was used by various house arrangers
for music in the style of Wendling. As far as we know there was never a
player piano artist named Walter Redding.
