Fairground Organ CD "Art of Mechanical Music"
By Tom Grace

Hi there -- In response to Bill Griswold's question about The Fairground
Organ CD, I also own this CD, ARN 60407. It is of a 105 Key Gavioli,
it has a nice photo of the organ on the cover and also in the booklet.

This is a great recording, the organ is in good voice and is in tune.
The organ has been restored back to its original state having gone
through many modifications over the years. The organ has 1040 pipes
and 13 registers. This organ also had a twin, unfortunately it was
destroyed during the bombing of Nantes in 1940. The organ is now in
the collection of Jacques Bourgade in France.

Anyone who likes the sound of big Fairground organs will be pleased
with the sound of this big Gavioli, nothing can beat the thrill like
hearing a big organ like this belt out The Entry of the Gladiators or
Valencia. I highly recommend this one; buy it and enjoy the sound of
yesteryear.
