Hi, everyone, Just found MMD on the 'Net. Been a Mighty Wurlitzer
and automatic instrument nut for the last 45 of my 52 years. Time to
really get into it!
I am looking for a means to recut Wurlitzer Style RJ residence organ
rolls. They are 12 inches wide, 9 holes per inch, 105 channels. It
would seem like a piano roll perforator could be adapted, but that's
easier said than done.
I'm seeking either a fellow buff with an existing perforator, or a
someone to machine a punching unit. I just contacted Wayne Stahnke,
who recommended Carl Lambie or Dave Saul as excellent sources of help
and/or information (Guys, are you out there? Couldn't get an e-mail
through to you the other night), and commented that there were others of
you as well who had setups to make holes in paper. Contracting the
project would be just fine, but so would setting up a perforator here.
We envision about five sets of over 100 titles each. Any help,
any suggestions, estimates of costs, how to do it would be greatly
appreciated. Thanks, everyone!
Ken Rosen, Chatsworth, Calif.
PS: I just found the MIDster punch site by Bob Essex. Looks like just
the thing I'll need to make small batches of rolls. Has anyone else
built one and used it? Anyone find a good machinist to make it? I saw
that recently Philip Jamison had the same question. As he said, no
use duplicating effort, to which I might add, no reinventing the wheel.
