I have tried without any success to find a laptop computer that has
a MIDI-out port so I could us it to feed electronic files to my
PowerRoll. So far I have been using my "master" computer, located in
a different part of my house, using a 150 foot two-wire shielded cable.
Although this works great with no loss in data, which surprised me,
it is rather inconvenient to say the least. A laptop computer would
be "the ticket". I have a 760EL IBM laptop but it has no installed
MIDI port. According to its user manual it is an option the can be
installed and is called "Enhanced Video" and also includes video
capability.
After many, many calls to IBM's technical support, I have yet to hear
from any of those technicians whether this option can be installed on
my laptop and how to go about it. Some tell me they don't know and
don't know how to get me that information, and some quickly give me the
idea that they do not want to be bothered and the line all of a sudden
goes dead. I could give more details on this sorry situation, but
this is not the place for it.
I have finally given up on Big Blue and its technical support and am
now trying to locate any brand of laptop that has a MIDI out port and
the equivalent of a sound card that can handle the needs of Brandle's
WindPlay. As you can see I need some help. Any ideas ?
