Edison Diamond Disc Phonograph
By John Johns
Hello All: Last summer while on vacation I came across an Edison
diamond disc machine in an antique store. It was in working order
and the price was right so I bought it. As an afterthought the dealer
mentioned that there was an extra reproducer that went with it.
Either one of the two reproducers attaches to the tone (?) arm and the
diamond disc reproducer is still working well but I feel that the other
needs rebuilding since volume is weak. There is a rudimentary speed
control which allows one to reduce the speed to play 78 rpm records.
I am no expert in phonographs but plan to have a go at restoration once
my current project (a 5'6" Steck Duo-Art from about 1927) is complete.
The model number of the phonograph is C150 and the serial number is
SM101759. If anyone has any information as to date of manufacture
I would be grateful.
Regards
