PowerRoll Adds MIDI Without Modification
By Larry Broadmoore

In response to recent discussions in the MMD: "MIDIfication" of
automatic instruments can be most easily achieved in many cases with
our product, the PowerRoll. The PowerRoll contains in a single,
elegant metal package, 100 prewired and mounted electrically-controlled
pneumatic valves, and an highly efficient microprocessor board
(manufactured by MIDIator systems), which can receive a stream of MIDI
data and convert it into impulses which open these valves to play notes
or operate other functions.

The PowerRoll is extremely quiet in operation and can easily open its
valves against 100" of water vacuum, thus it is effective in high
vacuum instruments such as the Duo-Art.

Requiring no modification of the instrument to be installed, it easily
gaskets to any 9-holes-to-the-inch scale tracker bar (it installs or
is removed in seconds after the first five-minute setup), filling the
space normally occupied by the music roll, and requires no wiring or
tubing by the customer except for the usual MIDI cable and a 9-
conductor ribbon cable. A manifold attachment is also available for
directly teeing into existing rubber tubing, if preferred. A special
model PowerRoll is also available to fit Welte T-100 ("Red Roll")
German tracker bars.

The PowerRoll includes a special version of the excellent computer
program "WindPlay" by Richard Brandle, which enables one to easily
manage and play a huge library of digitized music rolls, available at
reasonable cost. (An external disc player or computer must be used to
send music roll or other data to the PowerRoll.)

We are considerably behind schedule in filling orders due to the
popularity of the product, but are gradually getting caught up, and
are able to take orders now for delivery in a few months.

All of those who have seen and heard the present model PowerRoll
have praised it highly in design, construction and performance. We
sincerely believe that it meets the lofty standards of style and
construction of the best piano manufacturers of the Golden Age.

Please email me with your mailing address and we will send you a packet
of information. I would also be pleased to answer your questions by
phone, should you wish to call our toll-free number, (800) 497-4266
(49-PIANO).

Our new website, www.powerroll.com, is under construction and will be
announced when it is open.
