Percy Grainger Museum in Melbourne, Australia
By Harvey Roehl
What with the items appearing in MMD about Percy Grainger, I can't help
but send along this picture of me playing 'Country Gardens' from the
keyboard of his personal Weber Duo-Art that's in the Percy Grainger
Museum in Melbourne, Australia. The place is full of material about
the man's experiments with reproducing piano technology; my recollec-
tion is that most of it was pretty weird!
The photo was taken in 1977 during our first visit to the continent
'Down Under.' No, the young lady is not the museum hostess, it's
Marion -- the former 'Mrs. Editor.'
I also sent to the MMD pictures site a photo of little advertising
novelty found years ago: a 'Player Piano Jack Knife.' Has anyone else
ever seen one like it?
