Following the recent items in MMD regarding Decap Herentals, I would
like to remind all that there is a great opportunity to visit the firm
by joining the forthcoming tour of the Mechanical Organ Owners' Society
(MOOS). The tour, which was mentioned in MMD 000216, is, more or less,
a repeat of our highly successful trip of November 1999 and is aimed at
those who were unable to join the previous tour, plus, of course, any
newcomers (members and non-members are equally welcome).
On our November tour, the visit to Decap Herentals proved to be a real
highlight. We were shown around the factory and also saw a number of
very spectacular recently built organs. The innovative ideas applied
to design and construction were explained in great depth and, all in
all, we were made most welcome everywhere we went. I would therefore
urge anyone interested in the activities of the firm to come along with
us. I can promise a most entertaining and enjoyable visit.
As mentioned in the previous item in MMD, we also visit Utrecht Museum,
the Kunkels Collection in Haarlem, the workshop of Elbert Pluer and the
unique Cafe des Orgues at Herzeele. There will also be some free time
in Bruges and Amsterdam.
We depart from England on the morning of 16th March and return on
the evening of 19th March. Pick up/set down points are Andover,
Maidenhead, Redhill (for easy rail access to/from London) and Dover.
The cost of the tour is 225 GB pounds inclusive of morning and evening
meals and accommodation in twin/double rooms.
If you wish to book please contact Boz Oram on 01264 738260 or Peter
Craig on 01462 440147 as soon as possible.
