We have a Symphonion 21-1/4" disc mechanism with ten bells, mounted
(over thirty years ago, perhaps by someone in Germany) in a Polyphon
cabinet.
The machine has all it's original teeth, though some of the projections
for tripping the bells are missing on some of the discs. The machine
plays very well.
What I would like to know is the translation of the German stenciled
onto the backside of the glass in the motor access door, above and
below the clear part of the glass:
"Sobald die Glocke hier erklingt
Die Marke aus dem Kasten springt"
I have supposed it is all one statement but would like to know if
someone can translate it as it was meant to read nearly 100 years ago.
Of course, I would consider buying discs for this machine if someone
has some that they would like to sell. Thank you for posting this
letter and for any advice anyone may have.

[ It's a poem, the manufacturer's slogan, literally, "As soon as the
[ bell here sounds, the brand out of the box springs." In English
[ rhyme it might be, "The brand jumps out when the bell sings out!"
