In response to Christian Greinacher's question on the curious drum and
cymbal machine, I have the following: If I might allow a friend a word
on this subject, not on MMD, here is his reply. From Mr. Bert Atwood,
Kelseyville, CA:
"Shanti Lal Jain was my host in India. He was in charge of
funding and building a huge temple in New Delhi for the Jain
religion. The Jain religion is very similar to Hinduism (perhaps
an offshoot?). It's only a coincidence that Shanti's last name
is the same as his religion. Anyway, he also referred to the
device as (quite logically) a drum and cymbal machine. ..."
When Bert was in India, several years ago, he took a photo of one of
these devices. In the reverberation of the temple, he said the drum
and cymbal machine was absolutely capable of knocking your hearing for
a loop. If I can find the photo, I'll be glad to scan it and send it
on if directed to a site.
