Well, my memory is not infallible, but then I was just a dumb little
kid at the time. I wrote yesterday that Edwin Welte had visited us in
California in the early 1950's. [Edwin's daughter] Lilo Welte did,
and stayed with us for an extended period, but my mother just straight-
ened me out about the old man I was thinking of. It was not Edwin Welte,
but Farny Wurlitzer. Sorry. I won't let that happen again.
Richard Simonton, Jr.
[ I received a very nice note from Richard today, saying that he tele-
[ phoned his mother and asked her to recall details from 50 years ago:
[
[ "She said she couldn't possibly remember, and then began to do so.
[ I expect she will come up with an interesting reminiscence, particu-
[ larly about things that my father had left out, such as descriptions
[ of people, and other human touches."
[
[ Richard says that player tech Ron Sanchez of Los Angeles recently
[ restored her Steinway Welte piano and it sounds wonderful. -- Robbie
