New FOPS Book: "On Display"
By Nancy Fratti

Hi! Just wanted to let you know about a new book out on band organs,
fairground organs and street organs.

The Fair Organ Preservation Society has published a 128 page book, with
205 pictures (46 in color), celebrating the art of these magnificent
organs. Packed with pictures and histories of both old and new makers,
anyone with an interest in these machines will want one of these books.

"A celebration of 40 years of Fair Organ Preservation. Published
by the FOPS, this book is a compilation of magnificent images of
fair and street organs through the years. Each organ depicted is
accompanied by a brief description and a number of respected authors
have written histories of the manufacturers who produced them.

"The book [contains] some 200 photographs, 40 of them in full color,
celebrating the decorator's art. Organs from before the turn of the
century are featured alongside instruments from the wear years, and
today's organ builders are not forgotten, either. Restorers and
music arrangers, past and present, are also well represented in
  story and picture."

They're on their way to me as you read this (should be here in about
10 days). Price is $40.00 + $4.50 postage (priority mail).

I will be premiering these at the upcoming MBSI Trustees/Piedmont
Chapter meeting in mid-February and, of course, copies are available
through the mail. Visa/Mastercard accepted. Enjoy!
