There have been one or two postings on MMD recently about the late Eric
Cockayne's book "The Fairground Organ" and the fact that it is now out
of print.
Mr. Cockayne was planning a revised version of this book at the time
of his death in 1990 and it was his wish that it be reprinted by the
St. Albans Organ Museum. This revision is apparently now complete and
republication is imminent. The museum is a Charitable Trust, and so
they know how many to print and partially fund the venture, are asking
for orders in advance.
The book can be ordered by sending a cheque payable to S.A.M.M.S.
for GBP 19.95 Sterling (plus GBP 4.00 for shipping overseas) to PO Box
59, St. Albans, Hertfordshire, AL2 2BF, England. They will only cash
your cheque when publication goes ahead, and if for any reason this
doesn't happen, they will return it to you.
If anyone doesn't know the book, I can thoroughly recommend buying a
copy; it is packed with well written information and covers history,
mechanism, scales and includes some excellent diagrams to support the
text.
Best wishes,
Russell Wattam
