The use of wood and pipe metal have proved to be stable and of long
life as well as easy to work with. Organ pipes are still made pretty
much the same as they have been for several hundred years.
In the pipe organ milieu you will find people who are traditionalist
and they are that way for good reason, too. Their philosophy is that
if it isn't broken, don't change it. Makes sense, but fortunately,
there are also some people who are experimenters and just might come up
with something better. That would really upset the traditionalists.
When I see of a church ordering a brand new tracker organ I wonder if
those same people drive down the freeway in a Model T Ford.
