My mother purchased a player piano about 25 years ago. She recently
passed and left it to me. I LOVE it! I learned to play on it, etc.
It really meant a lot to Mom and means a lot to me. It works great,
except in the winter months when the heat is on in the house. You
can always play it, but you can't play rolls in the winter (dry heat?).
More importantly is I really want to have the piano refinished. The
name on it is "Goetz & Co" Brooklyn New York. I cannot afford to have
it professionally restored (the only man in my area wants $6500.00),
and all I really want to restore is the appearance. Right now, anyway.
The problem is, if I re-do the wood finish, where can I find the gold
"label" of "Goetz & Co." I will obviously need to replace it. Can
I have it made? I cannot locate the maker. You probably know more
about players then I do -- I just think they are a blast! Where could
I find info on the piano? Any suggestions on refinishing?
I'm good with refinishing wood, and I am going to have the keys redone
by a professional. I would welcome any info or suggestions you may
have. Thanks for your time. Oh, by the way, for a first-time web site,
you did very well!
Kind regards,
Kathleen
