This is in response to Steve King in Australia who seeks reed organ
information. The Vestal Press published three important books on
the subject. One is "Collecting and Restoring Antique Reed Organs"
by Horton Presley; another is "The American Reed Organ" by Robert F.
Gellerman. Both of these are out-of-print but your local libraries
may have them.
The third, which is still very much in print, is "The American
Reed Organ and Harmonium" by Robert Gellerman. This is very well
illustrated and thorough, covering both history and restoration.
Again, check your library.
If you wish to buy a copy of the latter, your own bookstore can order
it from National Book Network, 4720 Boston Way, Lanham Maryland 20706
USA. This is a large business which purchased the remaining assets
of The Vestal Press when it was forced out of business in 1996. They
own the Vestal Press name.
You can also get it through Amazon.com. It's available in both
paperback and hard cover. Hardcover is about $40 US$ and paper about
$10 less.
Arthur Ord-Hume in England has also published works on the subject.
