Tim Baxter's request for information on possible organ rolls
recorded on the Duo-Art prompted me to search my data base. The
artist, Hugh Hodgson, has no rolls attributed to him in my complete
Duo-Art list from all catalogs and bulletins of 539 titles.
While I have all the 116-note rolls cataloged by number and
composition, the task of adding the artists to that data base is
incomplete. Most frequently, no artist is listed. When an artist
is listed, it usually says "Arranged by Harry Rowe Shelley" rather
than played by "..."
It is possible that he recorded for another roll company. The idea
of bringing Hodgson back for the organ rededication is neat. Finding
the right person to scan the roll and convert the data to MIDI may
be a problem. It depends on what tracker scale Hodgson rolls, if any,
are on, and whether optical or pneumatic scanning is to be used.
If indeed Hodgson did arrange Aeolian 116-note rolls, be sure to
contact me. I might be able to supply the roll from my library of
1100 titles in that format. In any event, publish your wants here
so that all resources can be used.
