Hi All, I had to laugh today when I saw the letter from Darrell
Clarke about shipping overseas. I too sold items via eBay two months
ago. When all was said and done I would not ship anything outside the
continental United States.
Here is why. The buyer is always shocked to hear the shipping cost.
A check arrives drawn on a foreign bank even though the ad said to
send a money order. I am told by the buyer to lie about what is in
the package, so they will pay a lower customs fee. Then you have the
e-mails that are hard to understand because the writer's English is not
that good. Let's add the time difference and the nasty e-mails I got
because I was asleep when the buyer phoned wanting a question answered.
Just like my friend, Ed Gaida, I needed to sell of some of my unwanted
toys. Very quickly I learned just how much work it was to sell my
items. I also found it is not worth the time selling an item valued
under $20. Selling on eBay is a lot of work mixed with aggravation.
I feel that shipping overseas should be left to companies who do it
everyday. Companies have the luxury of a markup and a nice shipping
and handling fee!
