Videotape "Great Pianists of the 20th Century"
By Malcolm Cole

This videotape seems to have caused some problems, mainly due to
availability but unfortunately in the original editing of the posting
the first part of the name of the tape THE ART OF PIANO was taken off.

[ The subject line of your email was truncated when I received it, and
[ the full title didn't appear in the body of your message (it didn't
[ this time, either). The web site gives the full title of the
[ videotape: "The Art of Piano - Great Pianists of the 20th Century".
 [
[ Authors: the "Subject" line which you write is likely to be shortened
[ to 47 characters, and I often change it for best indexing in the MMD
 [ Archives. -- Robbie

The tape comes from a series by Warner/NVCArts called "The Art of ...",
which has already dealt with singing and conducting.

I can confirm that the number is Warner/NVCArts 3984-29199-3 which has
been taken directly from the video itself. The tape has also been
reviewed in the BBC Classical music magazine recently.

On the back of the accompanying booklet with the videotape is a web site
http://www.nvcarts.com/ but on checking this it appears to be under
construction -- they are certainly making it as difficult as possible
to obtain this tape! I obtained mine from Bath Compact Discs, who will
send overseas; their email address is <bathcds@btinternet.com>. You
will have to check whether they can obtain American standard tapes
(NTSC) as mine is in the PAL format.

Best wishes for the holiday period and the new millennium,

Malcolm Cole, the player piano group
London

[ I agree: They are certainly making it difficult! I "crept under the
[ tent flap" at the web site and found this directory index; the web
[ pages are full of descriptions but give no product number nor sales
[ information. The last update was 26-Oct-99.
