Story & Clark Nickelodeon in Rochester NY
By Rick Inzero

This past weekend (11/20/99) I went to the Strong Museum here in
Rochester, New York, and saw their recently-opened "Mr. Rogers'
Neighborhood" exhibit. ("Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood" is a popular
educational children's television show).

One of the things on display there was a Story & Clark MIDI nickelodeon
with a Pianomation system as sold by QRS. It has plain clear glass
panels so you can see all 12 percussion accessory instruments work.

It had a big box next to the nickelodeon with 4 big buttons that kids
could press to select one of 4 songs from Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood.
The volume was turned way down (a bit disappointing for me), but it
was neat to see this device. I'm a bit mystified as to the function
of the loudspeakers that are in the lower part of the unit. A photo
and description of this model can be seen at
http://www.storyandclark.com/products/nicks/q1sc6_4.htm

This museum also has a small Stinson band organ on a cart that can be
heard on request. See mention of it and photos referenced in older MMDs.
