I borrowed some 16 mm films from the local library this weekend.
One of the films would be of interest to player piano fans. Titled
"Pee-Wee's Pianola", it appears to be an episode of a weekly serial from
Britain. The series is about the Magnificent Six and a Half gang of 7
kids. In this particular episode, they find a Pianola abandoned on a
farm and go through a variety of hi-jinks in trying to get the piano
back to town. It is filled with amusing slap-stick comedy.
Curiously enough, during the entire film, the pianola plays with the
paper traveling from the bottom of the spoolbox to the top. I don't
know if the film producers were really this clueless, or if perhaps
there is an old brand of pianola which runs that direction.
If your local library has a collection of old 16 mm films, you might
check it out.
