Haunted Seeburg R in "Night Gallery"
By John Rutoskey

Continuing the thread on haunted mechanical music, I can remember one
episode of Rod Sterling's "Night Gallery" that really crewed me out
when I was a kid. The episode was called "The Tune in Dan's Cafe",
and it featured a Seeburg R that, if I recall correctly, would
automatically pick and play records that were not even on the machine,
in response to conversation in the restaurant at the time.

I think someone was killed there and their spirit supposedly took over
the Seeburg. I remember a lot of neat camera shots, like the camera
looking out into the room through the record magazine as the mechanism
scanned across it.

Does anyone else remember seeing it? I saw it only once, and I was
probably only about 10 or so, but I recall it vividly.
