Ampico Saint-Saens Concerto Transcribed to MIDI
By Horst Mohr

Many months ago I remarked in MMD that I had made MIDI files of the
1st and the 3rd Ampico roll with the piano transcription of the piano
concert in G Minor of Camille Saint-Saens, played by Victor Wittgen-
stein. Unfortunately the roll with the second movement was missing.

In May this year came an email from Ontario, Canada. Ken Vinen wrote
that he was willing to provide me with the wanted roll. Because of
past troubles with mailing I didn't want it shipped by mail. Robbie
published an appeal for help in 990625 MMDigest, and then it went
like this:

Ken Vinen took the roll to the MBSI meeting in Philadelphia and gave
it to Dr. Frank Metzger, who took the roll one week later to the GSM
meeting at Bruchsal where I got it from him.

I am thankful to all who made this little miracle happen, and now I am
giving the MIDI files to MMD so that many interested ones can listen
to the complete three movements of the G Minor Concerto played by
Victor Wittgenstein. Hoping you like it as I do.

Enjoy,

Horst Mohr

[ Thanks for your generosity, Horst. I will place the MIDI files
[ at the MMD Sounds site, http://mmd.foxtail.com/Sounds/ It will
[ be fun to compare the Ampico performance with the Duo-Art recording
[ by Harold Bauer; a sample is at Spencer Chase's E-Roll web site,
