Hello MMD readers, Lois Konvalinka and I did not intend to broadcast
the sad news about Danilo's current hospitalization, since he's been
getting crowds ("enough for a football team," one local collector wrote
yesterday) and it seemed to us that too much well-wishing might slow
down his rehabilitation. Also the local hospital is small and really
isn't set up for that kind of activity. (He's also not in the room
mentioned in MMD, having been moved a few times.)
Danilo is not the owner of The Musical Wonder House, as I would like
to add at this point, since this was a three person partnership, and
still is, regarding the collection between Danilo and myself. Lois
Konvalinka and I left the active 'co-operation' of the music museum we
founded together in 1986: Lois to retire (though she has done all the
bookkeeping and other related tasks for the Danilo to this day) and
I to focus 100% of my time on Artcraft Music Rolls around the corner.
As Danilo is sedated a good part of the day, I would not recommend
telephoning him at this point, but rather send cards to the address
given in the MMD posting by Mike Knudsen. (His hearing on one side
has been affected also, hopefully on a temporary basis.) The best
idea would be to write in care of this address:
The Musical Wonder House
PO Box 604
Wiscasset, ME 04578 USA
fax: (207) 882-6373)
music@musicalwonderhouse.com
There are employees and friends on the local scene who are coming and
going, and they could bring the cards and letters to him.
This is a major setback for my business partner, who has always had
so much energy and given his best on guided tours for the musically-
inclined (as I tried to do for the first 23 years of the operation).
Meanwhile, we all hope that he'll recover fully and continue operating
our museum in its 37th season, to begin next Memorial Day.
Regards,
Douglas Henderson
