Why Damon, do you mean to tell me your school doesn't have a player
piano in the band hall? What kind of backward school district are
you in? ;)
Seriously, you're probably right, your Victor Arden has, in all
likelihood, never been exposed to a player piano. You, young friend,
are fortunate. The vast majority of folk under 30 in this country are
probably not aware they exist. Many of those that do probably owe
their entire knowledge of them to a "Batman" episode from the 1960s
(with Liberace, no less).
If Victor is interested in hearing his namesake play, there is
Artis Wodehouse's CD, "Keyboard Artists of the Gershwin Era,
Vol. III, Arden & Ohman" (Pearl GEMM CD 9023, available at
www.keyboardwizards.com).
By the way, "Victor Arden" is a stage name. His real name was
Louis J. Fuiks.
