The tracking governor using a single ear sensor (Aeolian Themodist)
seems to be under constant vacuum, i.e., it is active on the rewind.
Does anyone have experience that will nullify my observation?
As I am finishing up restoration of two of these units at once, my
intuition tells me to supply vacuum to the tracking governor that will
be canceled upon rewind. The tracking governor being currently active
on rewind means that if, say, the paper travels to the left, it will
make the upper spool travel to the right to compensate and on play.
This works fine, but on rewind, it would result in torn paper, or does
it? Comments?
