Carousel Music in "The Sting"
By Dave Vincent

It has long been claimed that the band organ heard in "The Sting" is
the North Tonawanda style 173 (converted to play Wurlitzer style 150
rolls) owned by John Leonard of St. Catharine's, Ontario.

John makes a point to show the pictures taken on the movie set of it
with Robert Redford at every rally he attends in the midwest. As I
understand it, film footage of the organ was shot, but never made it
past the cutting room floor. The only part used was the soundtrack.
This organ has recently been rebuilt and speaks with great authority!

Dave Vincent

[ Was the music arrangement for the organ custom-made for the movie?
[ What song titles are heard in the movie? Who owns the music roll?
