Gay 90's Village Recordings
By Jack M. Conway

Like many of the Eakins' recordings there are extensive liner notes
on "Big Top Carousel Band Organ" that say little or nothing about the
instruments. In three places it says, "Featuring the Wurlitzer Band
Organ at Paul Eakins' Gay 90' Village Sikeston, Missouri." On the
label it says "All selections arranged by Eakins-Frey, Eleventh Avenue
Theatricals Co., Inc., ASCAP." Perhaps they were cut for this record-
ing? There are no photographs of the instrument on the album.

On the front of Eakins' "The Emperor And His Harem" is a picture of
a Wurlitzer 157 called "Goldie." In the liner notes Goldie is listed
incorrectly as a Wurlitzer #257 Band Organ that plays #165 rolls.
I don't know if this is the only Wurlitzer Band Organ he owned or not.

On the back of the album "Big Bertha" is a photo listing of Eakins'
other albums. It shows one called "Come to the Fair", AFSD6144, that
again shows a Wurlitzer 157. I unfortunately do not own this album and
therefore cannot give any further information.
