FS: Reed Organ Parts
By Kevin McElhone

I saw mention of parts in MMD the other day so I thought I would
mention the organ parts I have got.

About 10 years ago I needed the top cornice for a Model "V" Orches-
trelle, so I bought a complete organ that was being offered to me
to get that part. I also bought all remaining 'new stock' parts from
A.E. Davis organ builders in Northampton, England, when they retired;
they had got many parts when Aeolian, London, closed in 1930's!

I have since sold parts to ten other people who fortunately needed
different parts to complete their own instruments. Many parts were
standardised across the different models in the range and so are
inter-changeable.

I still have available various pieces of case-work, framing, two
complete stop rails, a complete keyboard, 16 ranks of reeds in tone
ranks (5 feet long), many types of reeds. Would prefer to sell
complete sets, but have some sets that are incomplete which I would
sell odd reeds from. Also stop control linkages, full organ boards,
clips, springs, etc., etc.

I have threatened to break them up in UK musical magazines in the hope
that it would spur someone on to help me get some space back, but
I have had very little interest. They are safe until I move, then...
well, we'll see!

I also collect tape recordings of these instruments and have several
for exchange if you can send me a 1-hour tape of your own instrument;
_any_ player reed organ would interest me.

I have also found a small quantity of Wilcox & White Angelus / Symphony
58-note rolls for reed organ and pushup/player unit with organ inside.
Can anyone use these?

Thanks,
Kevin McElhone

P.S.:  I am following up a lead on the 'Siegfried' player roll;
am grateful for the mention in MMD.

 [ Old songs are fun to read about (and to hear!), and I'm frequently
 [ amazed when MMDers come forth with the most arcane information about
 [ them!  -- Robbie
