Gem Roller Organ and Roller (Cob) Repairs

As with a dent, one can steam those wood fibers. Here's my method:

1. Look closely at the deranged pin, to determine where it should be.
Gently return the pin to its original position. ( I use my fingernail.)

2. Using a syringe (or suitable instrument), place a tiny drop of
clean water in the dent. Leave damaged portion of the roller upright
until the water is absorbed.

Often, this will remedy the problem, and the repair is nearly undetect-
able. In severe situations it may be necessary to repeat step 2.
Before all of the moisture is absorbed, touch the droplet with the tip
of a hot soldering iron. Your goal is to steam the fibers so they will
plump to their original shape. Don't brand the wood!

So far as rusting of the pins, the wood absorbs the small amount of
water so well, that it should not be a concern.
