[ MMDer Mike Knudsen told Kevin that he has six books of 30-note music
[ to loan. Kevin asked Mike to share this reply with MMD. -- Robbie
Dear Mike, I was away on holiday plus organ work for nearly five weeks
in the summer and I am only just catching up with 'letters'. I have
had e-mail for three weeks and it is saving me a lot of work; sorry
your letter was still in the pile, but this is much easier.
Basically, I purchased a 30-note Piano Melodico with _no_ music except
a test book, and I wanted more music for it. I managed to get three or
four books but all are in terrible condition and need copying.
Two fair organ book makers over here said they would make new music for
30/48/73 note sizes, but only if I got an order for five of each book
made. They would also charge an extra =L=150 to =L=200 fee to make the
indexing bar for the cutting machine, which is not the standard spacing
like fair organs.
About twelve months ago I was contacted by Francoi Severi in Italy
following my request in MBSI (later repeated in MBSGB) and he said he
would be copying 48- and 73-note music from his huge collection. This
will solve the problem for five or six of my contacts but he will
_not_ be making the smaller 30-note size. (He got upset because he
thought I would set up in competition to him, but I was actually trying
to find customers for him, as well as find out how many 30-note
machines existed.)
As it now stands there are only three people, including me, who want
30-note music so I am considering other ways of getting the music made.
Even the card is thinner than organ music usually is, so will have to
be specially sourced.
I will not give up -- it took three years to get a 'run' of new Aeolian
58-note rolls done some years ago, but it did eventually happen. You
might like to repeat some or all of this to the MMD.
