Craig Brougher wrote in 991001 MMDigest:

the MMD, and who wanted to learn how to rebuild valves. They called
for some help, stayed with us two days, ate our food, slept in our
guest room."
I must confess to the MMD readers -- Chris and I was the family who
slept in the guest room, and ate the food (nothing I would not do if he
and Ellen were our guest, nor would it be an issue). I had hoped to
avoid this situation publicly, to avoid possible embarrassment to
either myself or Craig. But since he elected to mention it, I am
obligated to respond and point out a few things that are incorrect.
I will now use the MMD archives as solid evidence, to prove what I have
said about Craig Brougher, and indeed, I have thanked him publicly --
more than once. I have a very good memory of what I have written here
over the years. Craig wrote:

To respectfully refute Mr. Brougher's comment, I present the following
[from 1997.12.17 MMD]:
> Chris and I learned things in the last few days that would have

Another example is in MMD 971227, and in the posting in MMD 971231
that I now regret writing. Craig also wrote:
> They left us knowing what it had taken me years to learn, and I still

Not true. At that time, I had produced and perforated my very first
nine roll selections. When Craig would not accept any money for his
time and efforts, I gave him all nine rolls; I do not take something
for nothing. I also composed music and the piano track (The Ding March)
for his machine non-grata, and countless MIDI files. I honestly thought
I had compensated him for his efforts... Guess not. He also wrote a
review about those rolls in MMD 971223.
I did learn something totally unrelated to player pianos though; Chris
and I had evidently said or did something to hurt the Broughers feelings,
although absolutely unintended. For that, we will publicly apologize
to the Broughers. Nor do I think the knowledge gained was at all worth
the aggravation and misunderstandings by both the Broughers or us (the
Taylors). To me, no player piano in the world is worth that. I would
have rather redone those valves over and over instead of inadvertently
causing a problem with anyone.
We have publicly thanked (and apologized) to you, Craig. Now we would
appreciate the same consideration.
