Carousel Organ at Pacific Ocean Park CA
By Glenn Thomas

Hi Dan, I grew up in the Los Angeles area and spent many hours at the
various pier parks, including Pacific Ocean Park (P.O.P) in Venice CA,
previously known as Ocean Park.

The organ at P.O.P was not a 165 but a Wurlitzer 147 series. I have
never seen a recording of this organ, but in the years I heard it, you
probably wouldn't want a recording. Nearby Santa Monica had (and still
has) a Wurlitzer 153. The only Wurlitzer 165s in Southern California
were at the Ross Davis carousels at Griffith Park and Lincoln Park in
Los Angeles. The Griffith Park organ had a 157 front.

I also remember the Wurlitzer 157 at Knott's Berry Farm, the "other
carousel across the street by the lake."
