Folks: The O-roll version of "New Chicago - Vol. 1" is in production.
Durrell Armstrong has ordered an initial 48 copies from Dave Saul of
Precision Music Rolls, and the mountain of paper involved will be
shipped (via boxcars) to Paul Gottschalk's Capitol Music Rolls. Dave
has done a super job with the perforating, so I'm sure customers will
be more than pleased with the result.
Converting from "A" to "O" was trickier than I had anticipated. Paper
travel had to be accelerated slightly so the tunes wouldn't play too
fast. (O machines move the paper faster than A machines). Dave's
variable speed perforator was a big help here. But that was the least
of the worries.
The O scale is 4 notes short on the bottom compared to the A scale, so
getting the bass line to sound the same was interesting. In addition,
the octave doubling was starting sometimes in awkward places (vis a vis
the A version) so some of the 'left-hand' chord structures that were
engineered to sound full on the A's short scale had to be thinned out.
Etc. etc. etc..,
Patient folks can hear the result by downloading (huge) MP3 files from:

This is the machine in my living room. It's still missing a
xylophone, so all the xylophone parts are being handled by the pipes.
I could post the synthesized version, but that wouldn't be the same.
Orders can be placed with Paul at:
