CDs in the style of Pauline Alpert
By Harvey Roehl
Jody,
This is only indirectly related to mechanical music, so I won't
feel offended if you are obliged to ignore it.
Those of us who simply can't get enough of the piano stylings of
Pauline Alpert and her recordings for Duo-Art (and a lot of others from
that era as well) might be interested in a British firm that produces
CDs of nothing but material of that nature. Most are re-recordings
of 78's. I've just about worn out the holes on the backs of the CDs that
I've acquired! Raie deCosta and Pat Rossborough are my favorites.
I had never heard of the outfit before learning of this business
while in London last Fall.

[ One of the reasons that I love CDs is that they don't wear out
[ from repeated playing. I also have many CDs of transcriptions
[ from 78's in my collection. Its always good to have pointers
[ to obscure material. The website referenced above has ReadAudio
[ clips of some of the material. --Jody
