I have 3 of the following for disposal and a friend of mine here in
England has a further 7. They came in with some other stuff and might
be useful to someone.
Book Music, thinner than fair-organ music, that is only a single piece
of card, not 2 pieces back to back. The leader says "10 Gold Medals.
Imhof and Muckle, by Special Appt to her LATE Majesty Queen Victoria.
110 New Oxford Street. Factories Vohrenbach, Baden.
One of the examples found had the title "779 Sammy, from The Earl and
the Girl (A Show), length 4 yards.
It is unusual to me to find length in yards rather than meters. The
whole of the leader is printed, not hand written, card is Green,
8 3/8" wide and each page is 4 11/16" long. The instructions for loud
soft [pp / ff] are printed TWICE each time they appear. Once as normal
and a 2nd time in reverse image as if they were viewed in a mirror.
What instrument are these from? The holes are 3.5mm wide and there
appears to be NO gap between adjacent notes so that if 4 notes play
together there will be a very wide slot with no card in between each
note.
There may be about 50 - 58 notes, but as I don't know if the furthest
notes to left or right are cut in the examples to hand it is difficult
to be accurate or guess this one.
If you can play this music do let me know, I would like the books to be
used again.
